August 1st is national "Sisters Day."   Celebrate by sharing a special dinner created just for sisters!

You'll start by sharing some champagne.  Then you'll share a strawberry salad.  For your entrée, you must agree what to share -- grilled salmon Alfredo or chicken Cordon Bleu.  Finish by sharing anything on our dessert menu.  Total price is $50 per two sisters, plus tax and gratuity.

The Purple Heart medal was established on Aug. 7, 1782.
Show us your purple heart on Tuesday, Aug. 7, and we'll be proud to honor you and your service to our country with a free entrée.

Enjoy the world's first interactive Happy Hour -- get help from Chef Claus and prepare your own appetizer.

From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 23, in the Wine Bar, we're trying something new.  Chef Claus will talk you through preparing escargot, shrimp scampi or a Caesar salad.  Each is priced at $6, whether Claus coaches you to do it yourself, or he makes it for you.  You also can get a special glass of wine for only $4.  This is too good to miss, so be there!

Come enjoy our Italian feast on Wednesday, Aug. 22nd.  But be warned -- you will be asked to sing!

We'll gather in the Wine Bar at 7 p.m. to eat, drink and be merry, Italian style.  Which means Chef Claus will lead us in rousing choruses of an old Dean Martin song.  Or two.  See our flyer or web site for the wine pairings.  The menu will be Caprese salad with tri-colored tomatoes, shellfish ravioli, watermelon granita, Italian flank steak Braciola, capped by Zabaglione for dessert.  Price is $50 per person, plus tax and gratuity.

National Champagne Day is Saturday, Aug. 4th.  So if you have dessert with your dinner, we'll serve you some bubbly with it.

What to do on a hot August night:
Chill out at one of Chef Claus' cooking classes

We have a powerful, over-sized air conditioning system here at Le Café Miche, so you'll always dine in comfort.  Add the entertainment value and cooking savvy you'll get at one of Chef Claus' classes, and where to go for dinner on a Tuesday night is a no-brainer.

Tuesday, August 7 -- Tonight's menu begins with Chef Claus showing you how to prepare a "French relleno."  This appealing appetizer is a small bell pepper stuffed with cream cheese and duck confit, then breaded and deep-fried.  The entrée is a crispy-skin sea bass served with Belgian endive, oranges and Grand Marnier.  Dessert is Peach Melba.  Wines will be paired with each course, as always.  From 7 to 9 p.m. in the Wine Bar at $38 per person.

Tuesday, August 14 -- A summer salad with roasted fennel and oranges opens the class, followed by a flank steak marinated in fresh herbs and served with cold potato salad.  Dessert is a blackberry shortcake.  Wines with everything, of course.  From 7 to 9 p.m. in the Wine Bar at $34 per person.

Tuesday, August 21 -- By popular demand, Chef Claus is hosting another class at his and Linda's home in the east mountains.  He'll open the show by demonstrating how to make pizza on a BBQ grill.  Then Claus will prepare Porterhouse veal chops and serve them with a roasted tomato and corn salsa.  Dessert is crepes filled with fresh peaches and whipped cream.  If you need more reasons to attend, the wines with each course will be from Claus' private wine cellar.  Space is very limited, so reserve ASAP.  Outdoors on the deck at Claus and Linda's from 6 to 8 p.m. at $75 per person.

Tuesday, August 28 -- Oysters Rockefeller leads off the class.  The entrée is pan-seared salmon with crème fraiche and Pommes Alumette.  Dessert is fresh blueberry crème brulee.  Wines will be paired with each course, as always.  In the Wine Bar from 7 to 9 p.m. at $34 per person.

Phone 299-6088 for your reservation.  Chef Claus also invites you to talk with him about doing exclusive cooking classes for your group.

Other August News

Thursday nights still feature our Wine & Culinary adventure for just $28 per person.

Saturday, Aug. 18, is "Someday Day," when you can do all those things you planned to do someday.

August
was named for Caesar Augustus.  So it's a good month to enjoy a Caesar salad.
